Last week I had an offer from a friend of mine to join him to go hiking. He loves to hike and usually goes with just his dog as company. I love being outside, but rarely make the efforts to break out of my routines. I agreed to join him, even though it's exercise and I usually avoid Unfortunately Monday was being "Mondayish" and it was cold and wet. So we had to delay until yesterday.
I've lived in Utah county my whole life and have never hiked up to the "Y". Kind of a rite of passage if you ask me! But better late than never! It's an all uphill walk, my lungs were burning and I was questioning my descision making skills, but I made it! I love that feeling when you challenge yourself to something you find daunting, be is physical, emotional, or mental, and you "conquer" it. It can be something small that takes little time, or it can be a lifelong effort, but we all have it in us to fight those fights and reach the top. You don't know what "hike" the person next to you is on. Be kind. Be supportive. Help them reach their personal zenith if you have the power to do so. You may be the thing that makes the difference for them.
